Sable is a black cat who has decided the monstera belongs to her. She sits behind it every morning with the split leaves arching over her head and only her gold eyes showing through the gap. Somebody waters the pot around eight and she stays right where she is, tail curled around the warm terracotta, watching the water sink down into the soil. Later, when the sun comes across the floorboards, she moves out into it, stretches herself long, and then slips back in behind the leaves. It is the greenest, coolest corner of the whole house, and Sable found it before anybody else thought to look.
Plant people and cat people are usually the same people, and this covers both. Deep green leaves, terracotta pots and a black cat with a plan. An easy gift for plant parents, cat owners and anyone whose windowsill has run out of room.
