Sorrel is a red panda, and somebody has left a plate of macarons on the low table by the window. Pink, pistachio, raspberry, lemon, stacked into a small tower with the pink one on top. He climbs up beside them, takes the pink one in both paws, holds it against his chest and eats it in four bites with his eyes shut. Then the pistachio. Then he sits back into the cushion with crumbs all down his fur, looks at what is left, and decides that just one more is a perfectly reasonable thing to say out loud. He says it. He reaches.
